Feedback

Collect, organize and act on feedback posts

Feedback is the heart of fdback.io: users post ideas, bug reports and questions, vote on what matters to them, and discuss it in the comments. Your team triages it all from Feedback in the sidebar.

Posting feedback

Users post from your public board with Submit Feedback, or from the widget in your app. Your team can post with New Feedback in the dashboard's top bar.

A post has a title, a type, a description and optional attachments. While someone types, similar posts appear underneath, so they can vote on an existing one instead of posting a duplicate.

Post types

Types are the kinds of feedback you accept. New workspaces start with Feature, Bug, Improvement and Question; manage them in Settings → Post types.

Turn off Visible on public board to make a type private (Pro): its posts are only visible to their author and teammates with permission. Good for bug reports or account issues.

Tags

Create tags in Settings → Tags, then add them to posts from the post's detail panel.

Statuses

Statuses are the columns of your roadmap: new workspaces start with Backlog, In Progress, In Review and Done. Add, rename and delete them right on the roadmap.

Voting and comments

  • Upvotes are always on. Turn on Allow downvotes in Settings → Board to let users vote down too.
  • Comments support replies, reactions, @mentions and attachments.
  • Once a post is shipped or merged, voting and comments close.

Triaging in the dashboard

The Feedback page lists every post, sortable by votes, date or comments. Click one to open its detail panel, where you change its status, type and tags, edit it, ship it, archive it or delete it.

Filtering

Type in Filter feedback... to narrow the list. Qualifiers autocomplete as you type:

QualifierValues
status:Any of your statuses
type:Any of your post types
author:A user
shipped:Shipped, Not shipped
archived:Active, Archived
spam:Hide spam, Show spam, Spam only
duplicates:All feedback, Duplicates only

Put values with spaces in quotes (status:"In Progress"). Repeating a qualifier matches any of its values.

Bulk actions

Tick posts to Archive or Delete them together.

Duplicates and spam

Scout, the AI assistant, checks every new post. Configure it in Settings → AI moderation:

  • Duplicate detection: a post that's almost identical to an older one is merged into it automatically, with its votes moved over. Likely duplicates are flagged for you to review: the dashboard's To do links to them.
  • Spam detection: spam is either held for review (Mark as spam (reviewable)) or deleted right away. Restore a false positive with Mark as Not Spam.
  • Auto-tagging (Pro): tags new posts for you.

Shipping

When you build something, click Ship & Notify on the post. You can email its voters right away, or hold the email until you publish a changelog post about it. See Changelog.

Anonymous feedback

By default, users sign in to post, vote and comment. In Settings → Board you can allow anonymous posts, anonymous comments and anonymous voting (one vote per IP address).
